Gold plating likes to be treated gently. Put your ring on after perfume and lotion, keep it away from water, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Store it on its own so it doesn’t get scratched by other pieces.

A scarf ring takes the guesswork out of tying, here are a few easy ways to use it:

• Classic drape: fold your carré into a triangle, wrap it around your neck and slide both ends through the ring at the front.
• Off-centre: move the ring to one side, near the collarbone, for a more relaxed look.
• Grand ribbon loop: pull both ends of a grand ribbon through the ring and let them fall long over a sweater or blazer.
• On a bag: use the ring to gather a scarf tied around your bag handle.
