Dora Nola Tributes, Eleanor Roosevelt

Dora Nola Tributes, Eleanor Roosevelt

This week's quote and tribute belong to Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady of the United States. She really broke the mould of what it meant to be a First Lady, and that takes immense courage. Doing something your way, the way no one has done it before probably came with a lot of criticism and cynicism.

This quote: "Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively" Tells me she had no intention of staying in the bleachers and watch her life go by. She chose not to stay silent, not to stay in the background, and use her voice to make a difference.

She advocated for human and women's rights, held press conferences and wrote her own column. After leaving the White House in 1945, Eleanor became chair of the U.N.'s Human Rights Commission.

A grand lady if I may say so myself! Today we pay tribute to you, Eleanor.
