Prism opens like a view you can’t quite take in all at once. Manuela Jarry drew it as a series of abstract landscapes, hills and horizons layered one behind the other, stretching as far as the eye can see. She took liberties with colour on purpose: the land turns electric pink, the shadows deep burgundy, the sky teal and lavender, with pauses of cream and a fine thread of gold running through it all.

The design is also a nod to painters Manuela has long admired: Lawren S. Harris of the Group of Seven, whose landscapes have always fascinated her, and contemporary painter Nicolas Party. Prism is her own way of painting space, less a specific place than the feeling of standing in front of a wide-open horizon.

On a 36 × 36 in (90 × 90 cm) carré, the composition has room to unfold. Fold it narrow and you get a band of pink and teal; open it over your shoulders and the whole landscape appears. The palette is rich without shouting, so it gives an instant lift to a navy coat, a black sweater or a crisp white shirt.
